2013

The 25th edition of the Aigle de Nice International took place from November 11th to 24th at Palais de l'Agriculture in Nice

The preview and the prize-giving ceremony took place on the 15th and 22nd of November in the presence of Mr. Gérard Baudoux, assistant representing MP and Mayor of Nice Christian Estrosi and of honorary patron Jean-Paul de Bernis.

This 25th edition was placed under the High Patronage of Mrs. Mick Micheyl, variety artist and steel engraver ; Mr. Jean-Paul de Bernis, President of the Académie Mérite et Dévouement Français (French Merit and Devotion Academy) and Vice-President of the Académie Arts-Sciences-Lettres (Arts-Science-Literature Academy) ; Mr. Masashi Yokohama, President of Osaka, Japan-based International Art Council organization.

The 2013 honorary guests were the two 2012 Aigles de Nice d'Or (Gold Aigles de Nice) : painter Denise Gay and sculptor André Poissy. Other guests were : sculptors Serge Hugon and Michel Jarry ; painters Jean-Louis Carina, Alain Benedetto, Alain Demarte, Claude Gauthier, Marc Lenzi, Patrick Moya, Paul-Louis Rebora and Roger Vive.

May they be thanked by the Aigle de Nice for their involvement in the success of this edition !

The 25th Aigle de Nice just came to an end. What a job! The jury has been unflexible and irrevocable. This one was composed by a team of professionals whose expertise in discernment has been renowned for years.

The Aigle de Nice's years-old carefully chosen method: Points calculation, an influenceless unerring method. Every Member individually marking under the very strict surveillance of the Founding President, Curator of the Aigle de Nice.

Always supported by Mr. Eric Ciotti, MP and President of the Conseil Général des Alpes-Maritimes (departmental council) and, Mr. Christian Estrosi, MP and Mayor of Nice, the Aigle de Nice continues on its take-off towards success. I believe that we did everything we could to get here and that's a legit satisfaction for us serving for our Beloved city of Nice. Heartfelt thanks to both of them for their Patronage.

For the first time in 25 years, and to celebrate this quarter-of-a-century birthday, an online vote has been set up and was a complete success. Indeed, more than 840 single votes has been registred. Gifted sculptor Rémi Coundrain won hands down, obtaining 89 votes, closely followed by another sculptor, Christophe Tripoldi. We will reiterate the experience next year.

I hope the Aigle de Nice will remain successful for the years to come. Unfortunatly, I will not be there anymore to celebrate its centenary, even though I hope that a successor will keep taking care of operations over the years the day I am going to decide to quit.

Anyways, I'd say "Long live to my hometown, Nice" that has become International capital of Arts and Vive la France !

Alain Bideaux
Founding President, Curator of the Aigle de Nice International
